December 20, 2025I’m trying to cut 1mm steel sheets with my 100W mopa fiber laser 70mm lens, but after a few passes, the metal heats up and warps, resulting in it becoming “out of focus.” What do you think I should do to fix this problem?
A1:
Either weight the sheet down around the edges or slow the cutting down to allow better heat dissipation, air assist can help with this or a vacuumed bed.
A2:
Weigh it down/clamp it more closer to cut line maybe. Add air assistance to help cool it.
A3:
Place a heatsink under neath and bump lil bit more speed..thin SS very sensitive towards heat that would cause warp and bend..with 70mm lens it would cut fast but you need to set your parameters equivalent to your materials..
